Stacking the Shelves is what we have added to our bookshelves in couple of weeks. Stacking the Shelves is bought to you by Tynga from Tynga’s Reviews. Stacking The Shelves is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks!

Oh lord. It’s been FOREVER since I did one of these.

#Fridayreads featuring @thoughtsontomes !

So this weekend is all about one book.

Shades-of-Milk-and-Honey-by-Mary-Robinette-Kowal (1)

I am buddy reading this with the awesome Samantha from Thoughts on Tomes! We have had this planned for a little while. 🙂

I am only 4 chapters in, (I blame Orange is the New Black) but I looove it. At first I thought it might have been slightly hard to read, since I have never read an Austen before. I was soooo wrong. It’s delightful!

Speaking of Samantha, if you haven’t checked her BookTube channel out, you totally should! She has an amazing taste in books and has a very unique voice! She is absolutely one of my favorite content creators! 😀

You can find her on YouTube, Twitter, and Instagram!

I have no idea what I plan on reading after I finish Shades, but I have a feeling it might be:

23281652.,

9780544281110_3b8bf or

517qzv8wvZL._SY344_BO1,204,203,200_.

Anyways, this is Rei’sa, over and out!

Breaking 1k…

HOLY HELL.

WHEN DID THIS HAPPEN!?

I had no idea that I had over 1k followers! Thank you! Thank you from the bottom of my heart! I know I have been absent quite a bit this last year, but even so..!

I promise to be more diligent this upcoming year! Words cannot express how much I appreciate this, you and everything!

Thank you for joining me on this wonderful journey! 🙂

Divergent by Veronica Roth; or why did I take so long to read this?

Title: Divergent

Author: Veronica Roth

Series: Yes, first of a trilogy.

Age Range: I would say 16 and up.

Genre: Young Adult, Dystopian, Adventure, Political

Would I recommend it to anyone: Kind of. I would to anyone who wants a good thrill ride.

Description on Goodreads:

In Beatrice Prior’s dystopian Chicago world, society is divided into five factions, each dedicated to the cultivation of a particular virtue–Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). On an appointed day of every year, all sixteen-year-olds must select the faction to which they will devote the rest of their lives. For Beatrice, the decision is between staying with her family and being who she really is–she can’t have both. So she makes a choice that surprises everyone, including herself.

During the highly competitive initiation that follows, Beatrice renames herself Tris and struggles alongside her fellow initiates to live out the choice they have made. Together they must undergo extreme physical tests of endurance and intense psychological simulations, some with devastating consequences. As initiation transforms them all, Tris must determine who her friends really are–and where, exactly, a romance with a sometimes fascinating, sometimes exasperating boy fits into the life she’s chosen. But Tris also has a secret, one she’s kept hidden from everyone because she’s been warned it can mean death. And as she discovers unrest and growing conflict that threaten to unravel her seemingly perfect society, Tris also learns that her secret might help her save the ones she loves . . . or it might destroy her.

Review:

Soooo. I picked this book up, put it down. Up, down, up, down.. for months. I just kept getting distacted and picking up other books. It’s wasn’t it’s fault. I have ADD. This happens sometimes. Or, it would be too intense for what I needed at that moment. But, recently I picked it back up and wiped it out in a matter of days.

I absolutely loved the world building. I actually felt like I was sucked deep into the world, when Tris was first in Abnegation, training in Dauntless and so on, I wanted to take on the enemy by her side.

This book truly is worth the hype it has. The emotions, the adrenline rush that I had with almost every chapter..! I never wanted it to end!

In the end I had to give it a 4.5 out of 5 though. It was brillant, but something… something felt missing. Maybe Insurgent will be different. 🙂

My Rating: 4.5/5

Why I have been gone.

So you may or may not noticed that I have been slightly… absent.

Basically my fiance and I were to watch his grandmother while his Aunt  was taking care of her daughter after an operation for two weeks. During that time, his grandmother took a small turn for the worst, having a stroke the first night. Which was followed by a second stroke later that night… for the following 13 days she just kept falling down hill.

She wouldn’t eat, barely drank, was rarely awake & for a while there we thought she might pass. In the hospice notes left for us, she was/is showing all the signs, plus she is constantly saying ” It’s time to go home “.

The only reason we left was because we had been so wrapped up in taking care of her, we forgot to take care of ourselves and we had to get back to our lives.

Leaving her was the hardest thing I have ever done.

I didn’t wanna go. I still wanna go back, but I know we have to relax so we can be of a better help to her. We are possibly going back around the 24th if we are needed, if she seems to not be getting any better.

God it kills me inside to see her struggle. She can’t even ask for water, or food. We have to ask her. I know it hurts her so much to not be able to be understood when she DOES talk. 😦

But, yes. That is why I haven’t posted much on Booktube or here. I am sorry for the delay, and will try to post a few reviews and general posts ASAP.

Thank you for your understanding,

Reisa Reads

So that happened.

So I had to take a week off BookTube and blogging in general.

We had a death in the family on my fiance’s side and well… I had a to be a better sweetheart than a better blogger. I hope you all understand. BUT! That did not mean that I stopped reading every second I got, which wasn’t a lot to be honest. 😦

I did, however finish Steelheart today.  I cannot WAIT to type up the review for that! 😀 It was mind bending!

As a general blog post though; things seem to be going slowly back to what we consider to be normal. Auhzy is finally sleeping a bit, he fell asleep about two hours ago, and is eating normally, we should be able to get through the month hopefully.

I have moved onto Full Measures by Rebecca Yarros already and let me tell you! I needed a book like this. After Steelheart, I just needed a rewind. I was asked to read/review this by her publisher ASAP after I had sent in a request for it. One night, and I am already 25% done and looooving it!

Now… for me. How am I feeling? Honestly? I have no idea. I have been feeling like a blank slate this entire time. I mean, dont’ get me wrong, when it’s time for cuddling & loving I am all for it! I just… I feel like part of me is going BLEH to itself and I have no idea why. Maybe it’s just seasonal. I dunno.

Anyways, tomorrow may be the beginning of a new chapter on BookTube, a new setting for /r/bookies!

SEE YA SOON!

~ Reisa

Also, I have never seen Frozen but I love that Let it Go song. o_o

What a week!

After finally taking the dive and joining the wonderful world of Booktube, I have been more inspired to read, review and am already in my first booktube group reading with BooksNerd and WellDoneBooks starting next week! We will be reading Steelheart, by Brandon Sanderson! It will be BooksNerd and I’s first Sanderson!

I am almost done Splintered and let me tell you… MOTHMAN IS FUCKING l;kahbshdf’KSDFKAHSDLF’LKshdn.hSEOIYFOslkdnf;alsdflk.

Yes. He is the equivalent of mashed words on a keyboard. A.G. Howard knows how to write… just… sweet lord.

HE BEAT OUT LESTAT AND ARMAND. NO ONE BEATS OUT THEM!!

She, by the way is an absolute delight!

I will be doing a review ASAP…

I need to catch up on my reviews. D:

Any ideas for video tags, themes/blog posts ya’ll want to see in the future?

Anyways.

Reisa out!

Peace and Love!
